Fitness pros who offer services to local schools are not just improving physical fitness; they’re also promoting brain fitness. A new study adds to the growing body of evidence that aerobic fitness has cognitive benefits for kids.

Researchers found that 9- and 10-year-old children with higher levels of aerobic fitness had lower levels of gray matter thickening in parts of the brain associated with arithmetic and enjoyed higher levels of achievement in math studies.
