Meet Our FITGIRL Staff

Maribeth Mark, Owner & Lead FITGIRL trainer

Maribeth has worked in the fitness industry since 1989. She ran college Cross Country and Track and then continued her fitness pursuits in teaching aerobics. Maribeth has taught fitness for over 25 years in several disciplines: kick boxing, Step Aerobics, Pilates, Cycling and many more. She holds’ many certifications in training from TRX to SPIN and Kickboxing. She has a MN State High School League Head Coaching Certificate and is certified in CPR and First Aid. Maribeth started FITGIRL in 2012 with the goal of helping to develop the mind and bodies of teen female athletes who are looking to further improve their fitness. Through specifically developed workouts that focus on the teen female athletes needs including: Core Strength Training, Endurance and Injury Prevention. Providing these elements in a positive, safe and supportive atmosphere is the main goal of FITGIRL. Maribeth’s passion for teen female athlete training stems from her love of sport, her two daughters and the support of her Fit Husband.

Emily Fleissner, FITGIRL trainer

Emily Fleissner grew up in Duluth playing soccer, basketball, and boxing, while graduating from Duluth Denfeld in 2014. Emily was a captain during Denfeld soccer’s state tournament run and currently plays collegiately at UMD. This spring, Emily plans to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science and attend graduate school in the fall. Outside of school and sports, Emily loves to travel and backpack through new and incredible areas. Due to Emily’s healthy and active lifestyle, she’s excited to join the Fitgirl team and have a positive impact on young, female athletes.

Amy Hallback, FITGIRL trainer

Amy Hallback was born and raised in Hudson, WI and enjoyed playing hockey, softball, and volleyball. She attended UMD and after graduation stayed in the Duluth area where she currently works for maurices in finance. About six years ago, Amy decided to make a pretty dramatic lifestyle change and get back into shape! It wasn’t long before she was hooked on strength training and started participating in other types of activities, like yoga, kettlebells, running, biking, and playing broomball. Amy is so excited to be joining the Fitgirl team to teach, inspire, and support young women while they work towards their goals and reach their full potential!

Emma Harvie, FITGIRL trainer

Emma Harvie was born and raised in Duluth as a gymnast, black belt martial artist, nordic skier, seven time Gary Bjorklund Half Marathon finisher and all-around fitness enthusiast, and graduated from East High School in 2012. This spring, Emma graduated with a Bachelor of Honors in Health Studies from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, where she was a member of the nationally recognized co-ed competitive varsity cheerleading team for 4 years. After falling in love with strength training, Emma focused her passion for fitness and nutrition toward competitive bodybuilding, and recently qualified for World Finals in her first figure competition through the Drug Free Athletes Coalition. Through her own love and dedication to a strong, healthy, and fit lifestyle, Emma couldn’t be more excited to join the Fitgirl team, and hopes to inspire, motivate, empower, and support like-minded female athletes in reaching their full potential.

Dan Mark, M.D. & FITGIRL Consultant

Dan Mark has been involved in sports and sports medicine for over two decades. He is a Sports Medicine Certified Physician. He works with several athletes and athletic programs throughout Minnesota. He reviews and guides the FITGIRL workouts with an eye towards injury prevention and increase in strength and conditioning. Dan is passionate about sport and specifically female athletes as he raises two sports minded daughters with Maribeth. Dan is a resource and sounding board for all things FITGIRL.
